Royal engagement-the photos

With the wedding date and venue set for Kate and William's big day, we have now had the official engagement photographs released.

The Royals chose the photographer Mario Testino to photograph this joyous occasion - a much loved photographer of Princess Diana - Mario Testino worked with Diana on a number of occasions with stunning results.

The talk surrounding the release of these photos has been very much focused on the outfits chosen by Kate.  In the photo above she is wearing a Reiss dress that featured in last year's collection promoting those with the dress to make some money in selling it on ebay, one seller describing the item as "same dress worn by Kate Middleton in the formal engagement photographs with Prince William"

In the more intimate of the two photos Kate is wearing a Whistles blouse costing £95 which is still available in store, it will no doubt already be a sell out. Wearing the stunning engagement ring which belonged to William's mother Princess Diana of course Kate will now be compared to Diana even more however with all these high street outfit decisions Kate really is becoming a fashion icon and will undoubtedly turn into the next "People's Princess".  Wedding world and and the people just cant wait for the wedding - 2011 is set for big wedding fever no doubt!

A Royal Engagement

With the news breaking of the royal engagement and the whole world going nothing less than crazy over the announcement I thought I would write a little blog with them in mind.

The lovely couple took to the TV to give and interview all about there love for each other and how the fairytale began. Discussing plans for a family and of course the ring that William picked to give to Kate.  Of course that ring belonging to his mother Princess Diana, William described the choice to give her his mothers engagement ring as " "my way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today and the excitement".

When Diana and Charles married on 29th July 1981 the world went crazy and a public holiday was announced in connection with the wedding. 600,000 people lined the streets of London to catch a glimpse of Diana on her big day with a further 750million tuning in on television. The wedding took place at St Paul's Cathedral in front of an invited congregation of 3,500.

Diana arrived by glass carriage from Clarence House with her father Earl Spencer for her ceremony at 11.20am. She walked up the aisle in a Emmanuel designed ivory taffeta and antique lace gown complete with 25ft train! Charles was dressed in full naval commander uniform.

William and Kate have recently announced London's Westminster Abbey as their wedding venue. The haven't followed in his mother's footsteps with a wedding at St Paul's instead in the footsteps of his grandmother and other royals. With Westminster Abbey being where the funeral of William's mother Diana was held in my eyes its another tribute to her.

With the date now officially announced as Friday 29th April 2011 and a Bank Holiday weekend being given to all, its set to be one massive celebration. All eyes will be on the news for the announcement of the rest of the elements that will go into the big day. It is set to be a huge event that will take over news from now until April so we best all get out the union jacks in support of this massive Royal affair.
